The last day of our stay in High Tatras – Tatranska Lomnica at the end of the year 2014, we could leave our apartment anytime during the day. I decided to use this opportunity to visit Popradské pleso (The Popradske glacier lake). I arrived to Štrbské pleso (The Štrbske glacier lake) by tram and then walked the red trail to Popradské pleso. I reached my destination in around one and half hour. There are two chalets standing on the shore of mountain-lake. I had a lunch in Majláthova chata (The Majlath´s chalet), because in Chata pri Popradskom plese (The chalet by The Popradske glacier lake) were so many people, that there was no place left for me to sit down. And of course I stamped my maps for gaining The Tatra Tourist Badge in the both chalets.
The hike to Popradské pleso is an easy hike in High Tatras, suitable for families, but spectacular. You will spend half of the route walking on the trail with amazing views into the Mengusovská valley and at the opposite mountain range.
You can reach Popradské pleso also for example by bike or with baby in buggy, walking the blue trail. If you would like to know more about this possibility, feel free to contact me at my email address [email protected] and I will provide you with more information.
If you would like to see this with your own eyes, you can contact me and I can provide you with more information, or even I can take care of your whole trip to Slovakia.
