Come and explore the national park of Mala Fatra in spring with us. Look at the pictures and description to learn more about the trip. Most of the photos were taken by me during my hikes in this area.
This area is attractive for its gorges, rocky peaks and ridge hikes. It is possible to walk from one side to the other on the main mountain ridge. This area is also home to bears, lynxes and wolves. It´s very difficult to spot a lynx or a pack of wolves, however it´s not impossible to spot a bear. I will be carrying my binocular everyday, just in case and maybe we will be lucky to see one of them.
In Spring this area will be freshly green and will be not so crowded. The plan is to walk through famous Janošik gorges, ascent to the highest peak of Mala Fatra, walk on the main ridge and do a shorter hike through Boboty and then visit the SPA Aphrodite in the afternoon. The Aphrodite spa was built in roman style and all pools are filled with geothermal mineral water.
During this trip we will do 2 hikes which will be around 15 km long with the vertical ascent of 800-900 meters. 3rd hike will be shorter, about 8 km long with vertical ascent of 550 meters. Some parts in the gorge are secured with chains and metal ledges. For this trip you need a good pair of hiking boots and waterproof hiking clothes. You can also bring your trekking poles.
On one of the days you will have a chance to go to Spa Aphrodite resort. If not, you can for example visit the town of Žilina on your own.
Local natural healing thermal water used in this Spa resort contains calcium and magnesium ions with beneficial effects on both the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Pleasant atmosphere is completed by a grandiose antique architecture of the surrounding environment in which the pools are situated.
