  1. Thursday Arrival

We will meet you at Krakow Airport at 16:30 and drive you 2.5 hours away to your guesthouse in the Medieval town of Levoča.

Check in, unwind, then regroup for dinner and to review the weekend’s plan.

  2. Friday Hike Sucha Bela and Prielom Hornadu Gorges

After breakfast you’ll venture into Slovak Paradise for your first taste of the park’s gorges.

The first hike will take you along the bottom of Sucha Bela Gorge, one of the longest and most popular gorges in the park.

You’ll walk through water, climb over fallen trees, ascend ladders, and even pass through a window-like hole in the rock. Along the way you’ll pass waterfalls, rock formations, pools and more.

Emerge from the gorge for lunch at a mountain hut, then continue your hike through Prielom Horndu Gorge.

This hike is famous for its series of ledges and catwalks above the Hornad River.

Return to Levoča in the evening for dinner and a well-earned night of sleep.

    700m ascent, 17km distance, 6 – 7 hours of walking

  3. Saturday Hike “Fireplace” Gorge

Head back into the park to explore Piecky Gorge. The name means “fireplace” and refers to the amazing rock formations in the canyon.

More ladders await you, including some horizontal ones that take you over green and blue pools of water, and others that climb alongside multi-story waterfalls.

In the afternoon you’ll head to a thermal pool for several hours of relaxation before returning to Levoča for your last night.

500m ascent, 13km distance, 6 hours of walking

  4. Sunday Viewpoint hike and departure

After breakfast you’ll pack up and check out of your guesthouse.

Venture into Slovak Paradise National Park one last time for an easier hike to a stunning viewpoint.

You’ll hike through meadows and forests, gently climbing until you arrive at Tomasovsky Vyhlad, a rock shelf with excellent views.

The viewpoint is 200m above the rest of the park. On a clear day you can even see the High Tatras mountains in the distance.

Hike back to the car for your transfer to the Krakow airport, arriving around 19:00. Return home with stories and photos to share with your friends.

400m ascent, 11km distance, 4 hours of walking

  5. Note Note

This itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, special events, etc.

You will be met Thursday at the Krakow airport. The included transfer is for flights arriving by 16:25. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

Your tour will end at Krakow airport on Sunday. You will be dropped off at the airport at 19:30, so schedule your flight home that departs at 21:20 or later. Your host will be in touch before the trip to finalise details.

Krakow Airport (KRK) is served by regular, inexpensive flights, including direct flights from London on Ryanair and easyJet. You can get any flights that suit you, but make sure they fit the times above so you can take advantage of the included transfers. Alternatively, you can also be picked up from the Krakow city centre. Your local host will be in touch with you to finalise your travel plans.

Absolutely! Just let us know at booking.

A moderate level of fitness needed to enjoy these hikes. You’ll cover 11 – 17km of uneven terrain in a day, but elevation gains are modest, just 400 – 700m. Because the trails are complex, you’ll be moving at a slow pace.

What’s more important is being comfortable with heights. The ladders, ledges and catwalks are very sturdy and secure, but they’ll take you quite far above the ground. Imagine climbing to the 3rd story of a building on a ladder. If you can do that, you’ll be fine on these hikes!

The basics are:

  • Sturdy, broken-in, waterproof hiking shoes or boots
  • Rainproof jacket and trousers
  • Lightweight, breathable hiking shirts and trousers
  • Warm jacket or sweater
  • Water bottle
  • Small rucksack for carrying personal items
  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses and sunblock)

Sure can! This trip is meant to be for solo travellers. The whole group will consist of maximum 8 participants.

Absolutely brilliant, I thoroughly recommend Slovakation and Martin, who is professional at all times but also one of the most friendly people you could meet and always there for you throughout your stay. Martin went above and beyond to make sure we had the most fantastic time and to personalise our experience. 10/10 for everything, thank you Martin

I thoroughly loved my time in Slovak Paradise national park; Martin our guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. He went at a good pace and I didn't feel as if we were rushed through, we had the chance to take photos and breaks to rest. I was slightly injured on my last days of the hike, Martin made sure I was doing ok and changed one of the routes so that I didn't have to miss out on the hike. Thankfully I had a good group so they didn't mind the change in itinerary. Martin made the trip very enjoyable and I would 100% recommend this trip with him, you won't be disappointed!

Thoroughly enjoyed the hikes in Slovak Paradise National Park with Martin over the past long weekend. Martin is passionate about nature and the mountains in Slovakia, and just a fun and nice person to trek with in general. The group size was perfect (max 8 ppl), trip plan was thoughtful and flexible, and we got great weather all 3 days. As this was described as a strenuous tour with some hiking experience required, I was also lucky to have some like-minded and well-travelled companions in the group. Martin was extra nice to pick me up in Krakow city center, as I arrived in Krakow 2 days before the tour for some sightseeing in the city. We were also staying in a nice hotel in a UNESCO world heritage town, so there is even more to see after the hikes. I would definitely recommend Martin to anyone and I'm looking forward to do some skiing trips or a hike to the beautiful Tatra mountains with Martin in the future!

I've just returned from a bank holiday weekend spent exploring Slovak Paradise National Park with seven others. Martin was an absolutely fantastic tour guide, really knowledgeable, friendly and funny, and ensured we really got the most out of our time in Slovakia. Not only was he great during the hikes, he took us to some extra viewpoints as we had a little extra time! I would fully recommend this whole experience - the days are happily packed with challenging trekking, visits to thermal pools and evenings out in a lovely town, all overseen by a professional and experienced tour guide. Thank you Martin!

I travelled with 7 others to tour Slovakia and in particular the Slovak National Paradise Park. Martin, who runs Slovakation, is Slovakian himself but speaks English exceptionally well. He created a trip, which ensured we made the most of the time we had there, and that we did. He is welcoming, knowledgable, a good laugh and clearly knows his way round Slovakia and its history. He arranged the accommodation, the transfers, planned our days in the park so well (which we all loved), he made recommendations for dining out (the food is fab) and took us to a remote location for lunch overlooking stunning views we would never have found ourselves. The park itself was like an adult playground with stepping stones, vertical and horizontal ladders, waterfalls, beautiful gorges, all amongst a forest setting. There are so many routes to choose from and he chose well. It was such a lovely place. I honestly couldn't recommend him and his trips enough. I will definitely be returning to Slovakia and wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with him :)
